Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) comes in two primary types:

• HSV Type I – typically causes oral herpes (cold sores), but can also cause genital infections

• HSV Type II – primarily causes genital herpes (ulcers in the genital region)

🔬 How We Test for Herpes I & II

Desert Mobile Medical offers mobile blood testing (serologic testing) that detects HSV-1 and HSV-2 IgG antibodies.
This test shows whether you’ve been previously exposed to the virus and can differentiate between Type I and Type II.

For those with active lesions, we may also offer viral culture or PCR testing from a swab of the affected area, if clinically appropriate.
