Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (LP-PLA₂), also known as the PLAC test, measures an enzyme linked to inflammation in the arteries. Elevated LP-PLA₂ levels are associated with a higher risk of plaque rupture, which can lead to heart attacks or strokes, even in individuals with normal cholesterol levels.
